Linda Pierce, Hopkinsville, KY
Freelance Art, “The Master’s Painter”

Linda Pierce, whose business name is Chalice, is a freelance artist with nearly 40 years professional experience. She views her art as a gift from the Lord, Whom she credits as her primary teacher. Working primarily in acrylics, she also uses pencil/pen and Genesis oils.  A 50-year history of using pastels was discontinued in ’18. The artist creates portraits of people and pets, landscapes and architecture, nature, and still life. She is also capable of canvas murals in her studio.  Visit GALLERY on the top  menu for categories.

Linda speaks with the Lord about all of her art, often writing an accompanying message. Having Dutch ancestry, the artist has created the self-portrait shown as a take-off of Jan Vermeer’s “Girl with the Pearl Earring”, adding a hand with paint brushes and a distant frame.

The artist was born in Louisville, KY, was reared in rural Owen County, and graduated from Georgetown College in ’68 with biology and home ec majors. After careers as a teacher, newspaper editor, and dietary supervisor, she moved to Hopkinsville, KY. She has been a professional artist here since ’82.  A mother of four children, she is grandmother of 10, plus some ‘greats’.

CHALICE MINISTRY

Chalice Ministry involves inspired art.  Some pieces are created  entirely during a service, others are  completed during worship services or ahead of time and presented with their messages. Since 2000, the artist has created over 1,100 pastel or acrylic pieces that were visions from the Lord. This is often referred to as ‘prophetic’ art, because it portrays the ‘rhema’ or timely word of the Lord and is always grounded in scripture, the ‘logos’ word. “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy,” Rev. 19:10b.

She has illustrated numerous book covers, co-authored a Messianic Jewish holidays book, created a Christian-perspective KY history interactive workbook, and illustrated two children’s story books. Linda lately released two sets of Coloring Pages, based on her inspirational art: ‘The Cross’, and ‘Doves/Holy Spirit’. A third set based on ‘Father’s Heart’ is anticipated.  “His Presence”, a 3-week devotional booklet, contains 21 art-and-story selections.  The art is frameable.

PAINTING ‘BY INVITATION’

Linda’s art ministry began as a pastel “chalk talk” artist  in 1963. Over 35 years later in 2000, The Lord asked her not to prepare but to wait on Him for the vision of what to paint, as in Habakkuk 2:2. Since she began doing these Spirit-led spontaneous paintings, most are completed during the time of the service. If no vision is imparted, Linda does not create a picture just to ‘make something happen’.  Approximately 10 times in 20 years the Lord chose to emphasize something else in the worship, and asked the artist to rest.  When painting by invitation, she asks the Spirit for the vision in advance. On occasion, the images are sketchy and rendered quickly, and at other times, she is instructed to paint all or most of the piece on canvas ahead of time, then add finishing touches and share the message during the service.

Verbal interpretation/message time must be given for any worship service art. This approximate 5-minute oral description of the art helps expand the viewers’ understanding from the artist’s conversation with Holy Spirit.  A designated time for her interpretation/message is set prior to the service.

Linda is an ordained minister (’09) as a prophetic artist. She has been a member of Crossroads Christian Fellowship for over 30 years.  Her expanded connection was  MorningStar Fellowship of Ministries 2010-20, and she now belongs to Kingdom Business Association, through MorningStar.
